OCD Research Project
With continual professional development as a personal priority, I am currently in my final year of a Bsc(Hons) degree in Clinical Hypnotherapy at St Mary's University College, London. My 3rd year dissertation is based on OCD and hypnosis.
There is increasing positive evidence towards hypnosis as an effective treatment intervention for OCD. However, there are limitations to the availability of information about effective treatments for OCD within the NHS with a bias towards SSRI (drug therapies) and CBT exposure response therapy within the NICE guidelines. (National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence)
I am interested in finding out what type of information you (as a person who suffered with or is still suffering with OCD) were offered connected to the possible treatment interventions for OCD, the type of treatment you received/receiving and its effectiveness. I would also like to find out about your attitude towards hypnosis as a treatment intervention before and after you have read an information leaflet about hypnosis (provided in the questionnaire) and how likely you would be to choose hypnosis if you were referred by your GP.
If you have suffered/still suffering with OCD, have received 2 or more treatments (any type of treatment) for OCD and are over 18, please click the link below to complete the research questionnaire. Approximate time to complete: 10 minutes.

It is hoped that the results of the study will indicate a positive attitude towards the use of hypnosis if the OCD sufferer is provided with education (information) to support its application as a treatment intervention, which may influence its availability in the future as a treatment option. If choices of treatment options are increased and made available, patients will benefit. As identified by the NHS, patient choice with regard to treatment intervention is a priority.
Thank you for participating.
With Kind Regards
Susan
